Call for Artists
Call for artists and artwork:
The Firehouse Art Center’s Gallery Committee is seeking artists and new artwork for the 2016 Holiday Gift Gallery. Year-round, the FAC Gift Shop displays the high-craft work of local and regional artists, 90% of which are based in Oklahoma. The Holiday Gift Gallery is a festive extension of the Gift Shop artwork into the FAC Gallery; as such, the Gallery Committee is looking for seasonal items of varying price points to captivate customers who are looking for both gifts and décor.
Please contact the Firehouse Art Center prior to the artwork drop off, in order for staff to assist you with a preliminary review of your work to prepare you for the drop off process. New artists will need to sign a Gift Shop Consignment Agreement during drop off; at that point, artists will be assigned an artist number and required to fill out an inventory list and label all artwork for sale. The Firehouse Art Center's commission rate is 35%.

Returning artists must accompany all artwork with a completed inventory sheet to include: description of item, item, item number, date delivered, price of item and medium. Item numbers for the 2017 Holiday Gift Gallery should begin with the letter B and start with the number 1 (example: B1, B2, B3, etc). All accepted work will require small white round labels with the artist number, item number, and the price. Remember to factor in the FAC percentage of 35% to the total cost of your items. Please be prepared to review your current inventory with Gift Shop Coordinator Sally Frech during artwork drop off and be ready to exchange older works for more recent ones.
Documents to prepare for drop off:
October 23 - 27: Artwork delivery and drop off
November 3: Decisions regarding acceptance will be made; artists will be notified of acceptance
November 6 - 9: Pick up for not accepted artwork
December 27 - January 3: Pick up for unsold work (after Holiday Gift Gallery 2017 has closed)
Artwork submitted must be original, handmade and created by the artist in the last 3 years. All artwork must be ready to hang or display. Mediums accepted include ceramics, photography, paintings, original prints, drawings, wood, jewelry, blown glass, slumped glass, stained glass, mixed media and some accessories. Items not accepted include clothing (except for hand-woven pieces and accessories), university themed items, food, and toiletry items.
